My name is Amari (she/her), and I am the founder of Admin by Amari Agency, a sex-positive virtual assistant and social media agency dedicated to providing seamless administrative, personal assistance, video editing, sales & marketing, copywriting, social media support and much more to professionals in the sexual wellness and women's rights industry.
We work with charities, and activists through to sex toy companies, sex coaches and sex workers. Basically anyone and everyone who is spreading sex positivity. See a full list of who we offer our services to.
We can seamlessly manage behind-the-scenes operations, allowing you and/or your team to focus more on delivering exceptional service to your users and making everyone's lives a little bit easier!
Accidentally founded in March 2022, we have supported over 50+ sexual wellness professionals and individuals.
Accidentally? How did you accidentally start your own business?
STORY TIME!
In May 2021, I was wrapping up my traumatic teacher training year (which I didn’t complete because I became ill). I was signed off work for four months due to mental and physical health issues caused by the stress of the year (0/10, do NOT recommend doing teaching training). At that point, I’d been working in childcare for eight years and felt completely lost about my next step.
Back in university, I had volunteered with charities, mainly women’s rights and sex worker charities, which reminded me of the original path I wanted to take; charity work, policy and advocating for women’s rights.
Fast forward to December 2021, I sent out a bunch of emails with my CV to London-based charities requesting they keep my details on file if any relevant roles should pop up. Three months later, in March 2022, a reproductive justice charity replied, saying they needed a virtual assistant for 10 hours a month but I’d need to register as self-employed.
Now, I’d heard of virtual assistants before, but I didn’t want to be self-employed or run my own business. I remember saying, “I just want to get my cheque and go home.” Here I am two years later running two businesses lol.
Despite not wanting to be self-employed or a VA, I saw this as a little side hustle and said yes. Just like that, I had my first client. I set up all my business accounts and social media pages, and by September 2022, my side hustle had officially and accidentally become my full-time job.
and well, as they say, the rest is history.

At the core of my business are values that centre on respect, empowerment, and inclusivity.
We are sex-positive, pro-choice, and pro-abortion because we firmly believe everyone has the right to make decisions about their own bodies.
We are also kink and BDSM-friendly—we’re all about communication, consent, and respect in every interaction.
We stand proudly pro-sex work, supporting individuals in the industry, and we are strong allies and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, advocating for their rights and dignity.
We are unapologetically anti-racist and anti-sexist, striving to create a space where everyone feels valued and respected, no matter their background or identity. We also acknowledge unconscious bias and know that we are always learning.
If you do not agree with our values, we are not the agency for you.
My associates represent me and my brand. That’s why the criteria they must meet is EXTREMELY high.
All associates are required to be registered as self-employed and with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). They must have the appropriate business insurance in place and sign a contract that upholds the business’s high ethical, moral, and legal standards. I also ask for 2 references from their previous employers/clients, as well as evidence of any previous work they’ve done.
Plus, they must have experience and/or passion working in the sexual wellness or women’s rights space and be skilled in the services they offer.
But it’s not just about logistics, right? What really matters is their mindset. All of my associates share the same values—sex-positive, pro-choice, pro-abortion, kink-friendly, pro-sex work, pro-LGBTQIA+ rights, anti-racist, and anti-sexist.
We respect pronouns, we don’t kink-shame, and we understand the importance of consent in everything we do.
I would never bring anyone onto my team who doesn’t uphold these core beliefs of mine and the business.
We aim to be kind, helpful, and always growing in our understanding of how to create a better space for everyone.
After all, we’re here to support, uplift, and empower each other while having a good time, too! 😊

Where do I begin?
Let's start with my fun fact which is I can do the Rubix cube in 26 seconds. My favourite colour is pink, I love Taylor Swift and I accidentally started my own business going from working in childcare to sexual wellness.
Pretty standard job progression, right?
Some more personal bits; I have lived in London my whole life (I’ll complain about the house prices and crime but I am never leaving), I have PCOS, I am mildly dyslexic, I am sober (2+ years) and lastly I am Guyanese, Indian, West-African and my DNA test revealed 15% European (no surprise there really!).
Okay now let’s cut to the chase to what you really want to know, what makes me qualified to run a sex-positive agency managing a team of sex-positive babes?

Did anyone else get to research sex for their degree?
Having to choose what degree you want to do at 17/18 feels insane, how am I meant to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life when I am still basically a baby?
It’s a huge decision (and SO much money).
Luckily for me, if there is one thing I did right in life it was choosing my degree. After studying Sociology during sixth form and learning all about feminism and sexism from an academic standpoint (rather than 2012 Tumblr) picking a degree felt easy.
I studied Sociology at Nottingham Trent, specialising in topics such as gender, porn, sexism, sex work, sex, and sexuality.
My degree further complements my practical experience. This enables my team and I to approach every task with a well-rounded perspective and a keen understanding of the broader societal implications.
Some of the topics I researched included:
• "Exploring Friends with Benefits Relationships (FWBR) in Western Contemporary Society" (the answer is no they do work, but we all know that already😉)
• "Is Sex Private?"
• “How do the students of NTU (Nottingham Trent University) perceive feminism?”
• "Do men experience sexism within the family institution?"
• "A Sociological Report of The Sexual Politics of Meat"
• "Sex Work in Contemporary Society"
• "The Sex Industry and the Acceptability of Violence, Exploitation, and Stigmatization"
• “How do people’s opinions and thoughts on feminism differ, based on their gender?”
• “What was she wearing?” (An article on victim blaming and sexual assault)
• “Social construction of gender”
While at university I also volunteered at sex workers, women's rights and domestic violence charities, supporting with events, research, admin, policy and social media. This completed my degree PERFECTLY and was my first taste of really working in the women's rights and sexual health industry. I was also working at a nursery during this time (volunteer work is all fun and games but a girl has to get paid!), this was where my love of childcare and education came from.
